“I’ve seen postcards that look like this!”
Troop 93 has always had the idea of trying new summer camps to give the scouts new experiences. In 2021 the scouts made the decision to visit Curtis S. Read Scout Reservation in Brant Lake, NY. Camp Read is located on 1,000 acres nestled in the 6 million-acre Adirondack Park. Over 50 merit badges offered in skilled trades, shooting sports, handicraft, scoutcraft, aquatics and ecology programs; Horsemanship merit badge and trail rides. Includes Project C.O.P.E., mountain biking trails, natural caves, rock climbing (tower & natural cliffs), zip-lining w/ drop into the lake.
The trip out to camp allowed the troop to take some extra time getting there so it was decided we would spend a day at Fort Niagra and also stop by Niagra Falls. While at camp the scouts slept in camp provided canvas tents on platforms and did an excellent job of managing their day to day activities to ensure they completed their merit badges.
This trip was a once in a lifetime trip for many in the troop including the leaders.
